Prem Joshua -Visions Desert

The album is a wonderful blend of East Indian, Arabic, African and Western music. The instruments and rhythms weave back and forth between the various influences in a spirited and lively manner. One track may have a hint of New Orleans Jazz balanced against the romantic and haunting sounds of the desert. Another track features East Indian vocals and tabla in a spirited dance with saxophone and flute. Overall easy to listen to ranging from sprightly to ambient in texture during the course of the album.

Ali azzam -Niyaz

Azam Ali, who sings with the duo Vas, has one of the most seductive and effortlessly disciplined altos active on the world stage. Now based in Los Angeles, she is a child of three cultures, Indian, Persian (Iranian) and American, so her music encompasses a triple conundrum. She is joined by Loga Ramin Torkian of Axiom of Choice, who has mastered an impressive array of traditional instruments from Europe, Turkey and his native Iran, and Grammy-winning producer/remixer Carmen Rizzo. The project was inspired by Sufi devotional poems written in Farsi (Persian) or Urdu, which is spoken in much of India and Pakistan. Although interpreted through ultra-modern beats and ambient drones, the traditional material reigns supreme, bringing a sense of adventurous continuity to grooves that, in less inspired hands, could well have emerged slap-dash and prosaic. Unlike most tracks intended for nightclubs, these are as compulsively listenable as they are danceable. Product Description Niyaz is an acoustic electronic project that brings together three prominent musical figures to form an exciting new fusion of traditional Persian music and modern electronics.. Vocalist and composer Azam Ali, one of the founding members of the acclaimed group Vas was born in Iran, raised in India and moved to The United State as a teenager. Multi instrumentalist and composer Ramin (Loga) Torkian of Axiom of Choice was also born in Iran and moved to the United states as a teenager. His extensive travels combined with his in-depth understanding of Persian music and Indian culture and spirituality have enabled him to cultivate a sound that is extremely authentic, yet can lend itself to the modern framework within which the music is created. Twice Grammy nominee producer/ remixer Carmen Rizzo is one of the most in demand producer- programmers on the electronic dance scene today. He has worked with artists ranging from Ryuichi Sakamoto, Khaled, Seal, Paul Oakenfold & Cirque du soleil bringing his unique approach to beats and electronic textures. These three veteran masters have all experienced success on their own and have found a new common ground in Niyaz where the mystical poetry of Urdu and Persian Sufi poets of the 14th and 15th century forms the lyrical framework for a fresh new musical adventure.

Nadaka, My Story

A journey from strumming guitar in north America to the ragas of the ancient South Indian Veena.

Nadaka as a childI was born on 4 January 1958, in Quebec City, into a fairly well-off family. My father was what I would call a conservative liberal, who had great faith in the Capitalist world. My mother was dedicated to family life, always active and cheerful and, with a somewhat rebellious nature, she subtly fostered disobedience. Each in their way encouraged us to see beyond the scope of our provincial borders, south to the States and across the ocean to Europe - in short, what most North Americans considered to be the civilized world, but no further. The youngest of five brothers, I enjoyed a life of relative freedom and happiness; however, my early annoyance with dictated structures made me a rather poor candidate for the establishment in which I lived.

Connie Dover - The Wishing Well

A resident of Missouri, Connie Dover is the stunning singer with the American-Irish group Scartaglen. She became interested in British and Irish music in the '70s, but started out playing bluegrass. She got involved in the Kansas City Irish music scene, and joined Scartaglen in the early '80s. The '90s have brought a blossoming solo recording career.
This one improves upon Somebody, with many of the same accompanists and styles represented. Dover's soaring voice is lovely and pure, and the arrangements are lively and interesting.

Immortal Egypt - "Phil Thornton and Hossam Ramzy"

On the same month of its release, “Immortal Egypt” won the highly sought after award BEST CONTEMPORARY WORLD MUSIC ALBUM OF THE YEAR by the New Age Magazine. This is the album that became the Bible for ALL Tribal & Fusion Middle Eastern dancers around the world. Causing a major wave of interest from dancers in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Europe, UK, USA and South America alike. Immortal Egypt is a deeper exploration of the Egyptian dance/Western contemporary theme running through the albums 'Pharaoh' and 'Eternal Egypt' by Phil Thornton and on which Hossam has collaborated as a percussionist. During the recording of 'Eternal Egypt' Hossam was able to take samples of work in progress to Cairo and overdub 'Kawala' flute and quarter tone Accordion. On this album I was keen to use more Egyptian instruments as the “Eternal Egypt” session had gone so well. With this in mind, Hossam and I spent some time in Cairo during August 1997 recording overdubs using a wide range of traditional and modern Egyptian instruments including Violins, Nay, Kawala, Trumpet and Mizmars. Haunting mixtures of rhythms and emotions that turned the music from a daring experiment to a new style of music that set itself as the new Mile Stone in the history of East meeting West collaborations.

Shiva in Exile - Ethnic

Shiva in exile - these are the new arrogant solo - project of Stephan Khertrikha, vocalist Darkseed and Betray My Secrets. Debyutnyy album was named "Ethnic" and it includes 14 dark ambient/ethno songs. Stephan used atmospheric electronics, churn drills, different sonic effects, muzhskoy/zhenskiy of vokaly from entire peace, including the drums of nepal'skogo shaman, recorded by the German author by Christian ratshem, who lives in the scaffolding already many years and it regularly attends the exotic countries. You can hear the Arab, Indian, malaziyskiye, Thai, people Canadian motives, surrounded by the dark and melancholy atmosphere. Album was professionally mixed by Christian bistron, guitarist Megaherz and Betray my Secrets, who also used several his ideas. Album was released Trostlos Records during May by 2003. It also earned the first prize Just Plain Folks Music Award. This music for all friends gothic, electronic and ethnic music.
